Tinubu Condoles with Catholic Church Over the Death of Bishop Emeritus Fagun

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Catholic Church, the Body of Christ, and the family of Most Reverend Michael Olatunji Fagun, following the passing of the Bishop Emeritus of Ekiti Diocese.

In a statement, the President mourned the late Bishop’s life and service, noting that he devoted himself to spreading the gospel across Nigeria and beyond. Tinubu praised Fagun’s humility, simplicity, and selfless dedication, saying that his legacy will endure in the hearts of many.

According to the President, Reverend Fagun lived a life committed to evangelism, often reaching grassroots communities to illuminate the word of God through both preaching and charitable works. He recalled that Fagun’s ordination began in July 1965, and in October 1971, he was consecrated a bishop. He served in various capacities, including as auxiliary bishop in the former Ondo Diocese before the creation of Ekiti Diocese.

Tinubu expressed sympathy to the Fagun family and all mourners in the Church. He prayed that God would receive the departed soul into eternal rest and comfort all those grappling with grief.

The President urged Christians to preserve Fagun’s memory by emulating his virtues of humility, service, and faith. He added that Nigeria would benefit by drawing inspiration from such a life of devotion and sacrifice.
