The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has cautioned Mogajis (family heads) and Baales (village heads) across Ibadanland against accommodating criminal elements within their domains.
The monarch, a former Governor of Oyo State, gave the warning on Monday during the installation ceremony of new Mogajis and Baales held at the Olubadan Palace, Oja Oba, Ibadan.
A total of 14 Mogajis and eight Baales were installed at the event, which was attended by top traditional title holders including Oba Tajudeen Ajibola (Balogun of Ibadanland), Oba Eddy Oyewole (Otun Olubadan), Oba Kola Adegbola (Otun Balogun), Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi (Osi Olubadan), Oba Abiodun Azeez Agagagugu (Asipa Balogun), Oba Adebayo Akande (Ekerin Olubadan), High Chief Akeem Adewoyin (Ekerin Balogun), and High Chief Sarafadeen Alli (Ekarun Balogun).
Speaking at the ceremony, Oba Ladoja charged the newly installed traditional leaders and other community stakeholders to prioritise the safety and security of their communities, stressing that vigilance at the grassroots remains key.
He noted that insecurity remains a major challenge in the country, urging community leaders to be alert to happenings within their environments.
“Security is everybody’s business,” the Olubadan emphasized, adding that the significance of their installation goes beyond prestige, but comes with critical responsibilities in safeguarding lives and properties.
