Olorunsogo LG Chairman, Qozeem Olayanju, Commissions New Health Centre in Igbeti

In a significant move to bolster grassroots healthcare delivery, the Executive Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government, Hon. Qozeem Olayanju, has commissioned the newly built Elerugba Primary Health Care Centre in Labe compound, Igbeti. The commissioning ceremony, which took place on Thursday, was attended by a large gathering of community members, political stakeholders, and traditional leaders, including the Onigbeti of Igbeti Land, His Royal Majesty Oba Bashir Abioye, and the Asiwaju of Igbeti, Baba JG Adetoro.

Hon. Olayanju described the project as a vital step toward bringing quality and affordable healthcare closer to the people. He emphasized that the new centre is equipped to offer essential services, including maternal and child health care, to residents of Igbeti and its environs. "This project marks a big step forward in bringing quality and affordable healthcare closer to the people at the grassroots level," the Chairman stated during his address. He also urged health workers to remain dedicated to their duties to ensure the facility functions effectively.

Beyond the infrastructure, the Chairman highlighted the administration's focus on human capital in the health sector. He announced the induction of over 150 newly recruited primary healthcare workers for the local government, part of the 3,933 recently inducted by Governor Seyi Makinde statewide. Olayanju noted with pride that 85% of these new recruits are indigenes of Igbeti, a move that has simultaneously reduced local unemployment and boosted healthcare capacity.

The event featured goodwill messages from community leaders. The Onigbeti, Oba Bashir Olalekan Abioye, commended the Chairman for his developmental initiatives, while Asiwaju Adetoro praised the achievement and called for continued unity to attract more progress to the council area. The commissioning is regarded as one of the key achievements of Hon. Olayanju’s tenure, reflecting a commitment to community welfare and the broader health agenda of the state government.
