The NSE President, Mrs. Margaret Oguntala, led a delegation of the society to the Alaafin’s palace in Oyo on Wednesday, where the invitation was presented. She described Oba Owoade as a distinguished mechanical engineer with international experience, noting that his expertise would be of immense value to the engineering profession and the nation at large.
During the visit, the NSE also extended an invitation to the Alaafin to attend its upcoming annual conference scheduled for December in Ibadan.
In his remarks, Oba Owoade expressed appreciation for the honour, describing engineers as problem-solvers whose contributions are critical to national development.
“Engineers’ creativity and attention to detail allow them to develop practical solutions to complex challenges. Their work greatly impacts society, driving progress and improving lives,” the Alaafin said.
The monarch assured the society of his continued support for its activities in Oyo State and across Nigeria.
