Ex-Lawmaker, Hon. Kolade Olagunju, Announces Bid for Oyo PDP Ticket in 2027

Hon. Kolade Olagunju, a seasoned politician and former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, has announced his bid to secure the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for the upcoming 2027 general elections. In a statement released to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, Olagunju revealed that his decision to re-enter the electoral fray is borne out of a deep-seated commitment to offer selfless service to his constituents and to leverage his experience for the broader development of Oyo State.

The declaration follows a series of extensive consultations with key party stakeholders, community leaders, and constituents, whose support Olagunju described as pivotal to his political journey. He emphasized that his return to active politics is not a personal vanity project but a collective call to service by those who have witnessed his previous contributions to the state's legislative and developmental landscape. "The decision resulted from thorough consultations with key stakeholders and party members who are essential factors in the party's electoral processes," the statement noted.

Hon. Olagunju is no stranger to legislative duties, having served as the representative for Akinyele Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly between 2011 and 2015. During his tenure, he was credited with spearheading several impactful initiatives, including the motion for the construction of the Akingbile-Oluana roads. His legislative scorecard also includes the facilitation of classroom block construction, motorized borehole projects, and various empowerment programs that directly benefited the residents of Akinyele Local Government.

Beyond infrastructure, Olagunju highlighted his role in human capital development, citing his efforts in securing government job placements for numerous constituents during his time in office. As a trained broadcaster, education consultant, and life coach, he believes his diverse professional background equips him with the unique skills necessary to navigate the complexities of modern governance. He expressed confidence that his "vast knowledge in administration and politics" would be instrumental in driving much-needed development in the state.

Olagunju's campaign is anchored on the motto "Service and Happiness," a philosophy he says reflects his quest to bring joy to the electorate through quality representation. He also aligned his ambition with the "unprecedented success" achieved under the current administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, pledging to build upon that legacy. The former lawmaker is set to make a formal public declaration on February 4th, coinciding with his birthday, where he will unveil his comprehensive manifesto and roadmap for the 2027 election.
