Dele Momodu Says Opposition Has “One Option” Left for 2027

Media entrepreneur and political figure Dele Momodu has asserted that the opposition coalition has “one option left” if it hopes to unseat President Tinubu in the 2027 elections. He maintained that unity and strategic alignment are no longer optional but essential.

Momodu emphasized that opposition forces must consolidate efforts and avoid fragmentation, urging that divergent ambitions be subordinated to a collective goal. He suggested that continued rivalry and parallel candidacies will only advantage the incumbent.

He further stressed that the opposition must present a credible consensus candidate—one whom all factions can rally behind—to offer a real challenge. According to Momodu, the era for multiple opposition contenders is over, as Nigeria needs a focused force to provide alternative governance.

While acknowledging the importance of party identities, he called for ideological clarity and purposeful alliances. He noted that absent a united front with clear messaging and strong leadership, opposition voices risk being drowned in competing agendas and internal dissent.

Momodu’s remarks come at a time some opposition figures have defected, alliances are being negotiated, and party realignment is underway. His message appears aimed at cautioning leaders against backsliding into disunity, and steering the opposition toward cohesion ahead of the 2027 electoral battle.
