In a statement released shortly after her death was announced, the conglomerate said:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who sustained injuries in the recent road accident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State.”
The company explained that since the incident, its officials and insurance partners had been supporting Ruth and her family, taking responsibility for all medical and financial expenses.
It further revealed that plans had been finalised to fly her to India for advanced treatment, pending clearance from her doctors.
“Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s courageous fight for life, we lost her today,” the statement noted.
Dangote Group also reaffirmed its commitment to safety and accountability while extending condolences to the Otabor family.
“At Dangote Group, safety, accountability, and compassion remain central to our operations. We are committed to continually strengthening our safety systems and standing by affected families in times of tragedy. May God grant her eternal rest,” the statement concluded.
