Baptist Convention Projects 50,000 Participants for Next Arise Congress

The 2025 edition, themed Emergence of Champions, concluded last week at the Baptist International Convention Centre (BICC) along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, attracting close to 25,000 physical participants and thousands more online.

NBC President, Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji, described the event as “an overwhelming move of God,” noting that the turnout far exceeded initial expectations. “When we began the Arise Congress in 2023, we anticipated about 5,000 participants, but what we received was much more,” he said.

Akanji acknowledged the logistical and financial challenges that accompanied the rapid growth of the gathering but stressed that investing in the spiritual development of young people remains a priority for the denomination. “Whatever we pour into this program, God will return in multiplied ways. These youths will one day take over our churches, associations, conferences, universities, and seminaries as pastors, professors, and leaders,” he stated.

Looking ahead, he hinted at the possibility of another edition before the end of 2025. “With God, nothing is impossible. We are already looking forward to an edition that could welcome 50,000 or more,” he said.

The NBC President further assured that the Arise Congress will continue to serve as a platform for spiritual revival and for strengthening the social impact of Baptist youths across Nigeria.
